For many years the Big Horn
Mountains have been the "go to
place" for a big bull moose. All of
our Moose hunts take place in Area 1
of the northern Big Horn Mountains.
This is a very popular area with
hunters seeking a trophy Shiras
Moose. We utilize the entire unit
for our moose hunting. My guides and
I will spend many hours before the
hunting season starts scouting for
the locations that are holding the
best moose. By the time you arrive
on your hunt we should have a good
understanding of where the best
bulls are spending their time. This
way when your hunt starts we can be
"hunting moose" and "not hunting for
them".

Most of the mature moose in the area
stay in very remote places. If this
happens to be in close proximity to one
of our elk camps we can use the
accommodations there. If not, we will
set up camps where we need to so we can
be close to the most active areas. We
will utilize any legal means to get our
hunters to the moose. We have very
well-trained, safe mules and horses to
get in and out of the remote areas.
Sometimes we find moose close to some
areas that we can access by a 4x4 truck.
Like all of our camps, we will provide
top notch accommodations with warm,
comfortable sleeping quarters and hearty
meals.

These coveted moose tags are hard to draw
and it typically takes many preference
points to have a good chance of drawing.
This area does offer tags on the random
draw. Which means even if you do not have
points built up you still have a chance at
drawing a tag. We hunt moose in both archery
and rifle seasons. These hunts are 6
full days. This does not count the day you
come into camp and the day you depart. |
